Meet Wiktoria – Junior Web Developer

I’m Wiktoria, the new Junior Web Developer here at Yellow Cherry. I can usually be found doing site maintenance work on our clients’ sites or lurking in the client support tickets waiting for an opportunity to help!
While trying to figure out what I wanted to do in life, I was always up for whatever new challenges came my way. I gained a qualification in Fine Art and have worked as a Sales Assistant, Library Intern and Trainee Pharmacy Dispenser. But, ultimately, I decided that computing was where my future was headed. I was able to complete a Computing degree which helped me get the job at Yellow Cherry and this is where I am now, doing what I love!
Every month at Yellow Cherry, I carry out site maintenance tasks for our support package clients. I make sure that their site and plugins are up to date and that correct security measures are put in place to protect the websites from any attacks. I also help client websites reach closer to the top of the search engine results by carrying out SEO (Search Engine Optimisation) work.
I have also now been more involved in the development of client websites, with six projects already on their way to completion (woohoo!). I am learning more and more everyday from not only the amazing developers, but the rest of the team at Yellow Cherry and will continue to grow my skills along with the number of projects I am involved in!
As for my life outside of Yellow Cherry… well, I moved to Inverness from a small village in Poland with my parents when I was 11. I really enjoy everything that Inverness has to offer, from the beautiful natural scenery to the vastly different people I meet! I just need Inverness to start selling proper twirly ice cream like back in Poland, and then I have everything I need here!
In my spare time, my favourite activity is staying at home, you could say I am a homebody! You will find me happily gaming. I love space related games such as Astroneer or Destiny 2 but I have to admit, I am also completely obsessed with Just Dance, which I have been playing since I was 13! In the unlikely event of finding me on the dancefloor in a nightclub, you can challenge me to a Rasputin dance off. I also love doing watercolour paintings of flowers and botanical-style drawings of plants and hope to learn to do this digitally in the future. I am also a fan of non-fiction, especially psychology, philosophy and technology, this stems from my love of reading encyclopedias as a child!
I do venture out sometimes! I love to go on long walks and explore places that I have not been to before, so if you have any recommendations, let me know!
