Meet our tee-rrific Senior Designer, Ruairidh

Well hello…again!

I’m Ruairidh, the longest – standing (mainly sitting) and therefore, wisest member of the team. It has been over 6 and a half years since my first day as a ‘cherry’ and on reflection, quite a lot has happened both within Yellow Cherry and out with!

Professionally, my role has changed quite a lot since those early days. I started as a Marketing Assistant and have since worked my way up to Senior Designer. This position suits me to a tee. I’m happiest when sketching  ideas for a logo, illustration or any printed materials. It has been great to have the ability to concentrate on my passions within the role while the team grows, meaning I get to work alongside some very talented people. I am really proud of the quality of design work that we offer to our clients. Working with our clients on brand identities and holding brand workshop sessions is something that particularly excites me and allows me to expand my creative ability.

As the team has grown, like Louise, I have stepped into a management role, completing an SVQ in Business Management along the way. I manage a team of 3, made up of developers and a junior designer. This has meant that there has been a lot of personal growth and looking back on my last few years, I can see just how far I have come. I am still waiting for the Imposter Syndrome to settle down though!

In my personal life, there have been just a couple of changes….

I got married, became a father (consequently got less sleep…), turned the big 30, became a home owner, and even found time to get my golf handicap down to 0, a life long goal of mine. I still manage to get on the ice now and then (curling, not figure skating in case you wondered), recently defending the prestigious Inverness Skins title alongside my club mates. My competitiveness certainly hasn’t thinned, unlike my hair.
