Meet Russell, our peel-y good Digital Developer…
Hi, my name is Russell and I build websites for a living!
I have been here at Yellow Cherry as a Digital Developer since 2021 after relocating to the north of Scotland from the gentile surrounds of Edinburgh. And it is here that I am blessed with the task of designing and building the front end of your site for you. I will work out the most effective user experience for all visitors to your website. All while I get to try out creative and exciting ideas as I learn more and more about the latest developments in some of the most fantastic technologies this industry has. I get to work on projects as diverse as online streaming sites to e-commerce platforms, and company portfolio sites to online booking platforms.
After fulfilling my lifelong dream of working in a record shop, and then witnessing, firsthand the diminishing returns, I decided to train at CodeClan and use my passion for all things digital in a new career. This nearly didn’t happen at all, when only 2 weeks into the course I was ‘removed’ from my bicycle by a taxi door and thrown into oncoming traffic. Not deterred, only suffering a broken hand and a bruised ego, I completed the course with my arm in a sling and a plethora of new skills. With this newly found knowledge I worked in e-commerce and as a web developer building WordPress and Shopify sites before making that fateful move away from my beloved Portobello to the wilds of Morayshire.
In a past life, a long long time ago, I recall that I was in a band. We released records, toured the UK, and most importantly, had songs played by none other than the legendary John Peel *( if you don’t know who that is, maybe ask your parents!). During this time I was priviliged enough to make films, take photos, design record sleeves and screen print posters for many a contemporary of the local music scene. All of this contributes to my sense of what looks good and serves a purpose.
Nowadays, I get to enjoy the quiet pace of life this part of the world has to offer, escaping into the great outdoors, breathable air and rugged landscape with my children. So now you know the face behind your websites, but I will keep you in the dark a little longer with the name of my band!
