FACEBOOK ADVERTISING – IS IT WORTH IT?
Perhaps you are a new startup looking to gain some more followers? Or perhaps you are ready to start advertising your business? Either way, the first thing you have to decide is the types of advertising that will be right for your business and whether this includes Facebook advertising.
Since before 1872 advertising has changed the way businesses and brands get exposure:

As you can see from the chart advertising has changed significantly since the social media boom, this is good as it is now easier than ever to get in front of the right audience to drive sales or awareness. Understanding that a quick “boost” on social media can get thousands of people to see your ad. But are these thousands of people doing anything once they have seen your ad, and will it have a significant effect on your sales? In order to understand the ups and downs of advertising through Facebook let’s look at some interesting statistics…
Facebook.com just dropped to the world’s third most-visited website
According to both Alexa and SimilarWeb, YouTube just replaced Facebook as the second-most popular website, globally. (After, of course, Google.)
However, a decline in Facebook’s website visits isn’t that surprising, given the broader shift towards mobile, and mobile apps in particular. It is worth remembering that Facebook is still the world’s most popular search term. Which means it’s still a great place to get people’s attention if however, your product would be particularly suited to video adverts, it might be best to consider YouTube as an alternative to Facebook Ads, of course, this will also depend on your target audience.
66% of monthly Facebook users use it daily
Worldwide, 1.47 billion people log in daily. Meanwhile, 74 percent of American Facebook users visit daily, with just over half of those checking in multiple times per day. This kind of frequency speaks to the importance of a consistent posting schedule for your Facebook marketing strategy. This can help us understand the global reach that Facebook advertising can have if they are targetted to the correct markets at the right time. However, if your business provides goods or services suited to a predominantly it would be worth considering investing in improving your Local SEO instead of Facebook Advertising.
Each visit to Facebook lasts 10 or 12 minutes
According to Alexa and SimilarWeb’s global website ranking, users check-in for relatively short amounts of time. You only have a few seconds to grab attention while they scroll. On the plus side, longer visits mean more space in the newsfeed for ads, whilst having an effective marketing strategy will help you plan your Facebook Ads so you can outshine your competitors.
88% of Facebook users are accessing via mobile devices
And 95 percent of Facebook visits are made on smartphones and tablets. Only 31.8 percent of visits are made on desktops or laptops. If your website is not responsive across devices, then a Facebook ad won’t have the desired effect for your business growth. We say it often we know (Sorry!) but in 2019 if your website is not mobile friendly or mobile first this is where your money should go first!
Facebook has 80 million small- and medium-sized business Pages
That’s a 23 percent increase year over year. Of these businesses, 6 million advertise on Facebook, which means there is a chance that your main competitors haven’t jumped on the advertising bandwagon yet – so you should! Doing anything that can give you an edge over the competition is always a good idea.
30% of marketers think Facebook Advertising offers the highest digital ad ROI
With 48 percent of respondents’ votes, Facebook trounced other social media platforms. Instagram and YouTube came in with four percent of the votes, while Twitter took two percent. So if you plan to advertise on Social Media Facebook is the place in comparison to others.
