Don’t Stress Over Facebook Access
We know the impact that online advertising can have on your business from brand awareness, sales to website traffic. In order to market across the various platforms, such as Facebook, Google and Instagram, you’ll need to first create profiles on these, and provide access to your social platforms ahead of advertising work being started.
In this blog, we are going to cover the creation and access of Business Pages, Facebook Business Manager and Facebook Ad Accounts. It may sound a little confusing at first, but our step-by-step guide aims to take any uncertainty away! In all our advertising projects, you’ll have a dedicated Project Manager on hand to help you out with any snags.
Before we get started with instructions, let’s look at the different strands Facebook has to offer.
Facebook Business Page
Your Business Page is essentially a profile for your product or service.
Facebook Business Manager
The hub (centre) of all your business activity on Facebook including your Facebook Pixel and your Ad account.
What Is Facebook Pixel?
A bit of code that is integrated with your website to allow you to monitor, measure and build your audience when running advertising campaigns.
Facebook Ad Account
An asset, or area, found within Business Manager, from here you can create and run marketing campaigns together with viewing reports and insights to get an in depth overall view of their performance.
Facebook Page Access
Unlike other social channels such as Instagram, where you use a username and password to log in, you can only allow access to a Page through the personal Facebook profile of the person who requires access.
To grant access to someone, you first must be a Page Admin yourself.
1. Go to your Page and click Page Settings in the bottom left.
2. Click Page Roles in the left column.
3. Type a name or email in the box and select the person from the list that appears.
4. Click Editor to open a list of roles from the dropdown menu.
5. Click Add and enter your password to confirm.
Ta-dah! You should now have managed to grant access to your Facebook Business page, meaning this person can now add posts, edit posts, respond to messages etc. on your behalf.

Facebook Ad Account Access
Facebook adverts are now set up through a dedicated Ad Manager account. To get started, you’ll need to have:
1. An existing Facebook page for your business. If your business doesn’t have a Facebook page yet, you will need to create one.
2. A personal Facebook account, so you can gain access to the business page.
3. Admin access to your business’s Facebook page (as above, if you don’t have Admin access, another Admin can grant this for you!).
4. A payment method you’d like to use for your advertising such as credit or debit card.
If you’re working with an agency like us, it’s not enough to grant access to the Business Page only. We’ll also need access to your Ad Account.
From here, you should already have either: an Ad Account (if you’ve used advertising before) or you’ll be given the option to create an Ad Account. Use the business name where possible in order to keep things tidy and clear for the future.
On your Ad Account, click the cog on the bottom left of the page – this will open up the ‘Settings’ tab.
Within this, you’ll see on the right-hand side there is an overview of Ad Account Roles. You can add new users to the Ad Account by clicking the blue ‘Add People’ button.
From here, you can search for the name of the person you are looking to add, or you can enter their email address.
Finally, choose the role you wish this person to have.
I Don’t Have A Facebook Ad Account, Now What?
A Facebook Ad Account is created by default for you when creating your first ad. Usually, the Ad Account will share the same name you use on Facebook. If you haven’t run ads before, then you’ll need to create a new Account from scratch. It’s super simple to set one up, just follow the below instructions:
How To Set Up A Facebook Business Manager Account
As mentioned above, Business Manager will serve as a central hub where all of your assets will be organised. You’ll need a Business Manager Account if you want to manage multiple Facebook Accounts, grant access to agencies such as Yellow Cherry, or if you have more than one person within your business managing your Business Facebook Page.
1. To get started, head over to Business Manager at https://business.facebook.com and click on ‘Create Account’.
2. Enter your business name, your full name and email and click ‘Finish’.
3. You may then be directed to the Business Manager dashboard Here, you can set up all the ‘assets’ you want to manage such as linking your Facebook Page and Facebook Ad Account.
Useful Tips To Consider!
1. Don’t grant access to people you don’t know! Avoid poential scammers by denying that unknown request.
2. Facebook will never ask you for access to a Page.
3. If a third-party claims they can verify your business on Facebook, this is a scam. Again, deny and report.
4. Always review the permissions you give.
5. Set up back up Admins in the event you lose access to your Page.
If you are aware that an unwanted person is using your Page then Facebook recommends you fill in this form.
